Above all, it was skiing that made St. Moritz the most famous winter sports resort in the world after its original fame from the therapeutic springs.

The local ski instructor and subsequent ski school director Giovanni Testa founded the first ski school in St. Moritz in 1929 after being entrusted by Tourist Board Director Dr. Amstutz and the ski club Alpina. Since its early days and during two decades, the ski school endured the tough years of the economic crisis and World War II. Success resulted eventually only because of continuous commitment, perseverance, diligence and passion for the ski instructor's profession.

Since its beginning in 1929, the ski school has evolved into a modern enterprise, that claims the top positions in Switzerland and abroad. The powerful team spirit has contributed significally to its great success as well as the loyalty and friendship to its many loyal guests. Today, the Ski School St. Moritz is not only the oldest but also the largest ski school in Switzerland. It ranks among the most important employers in the region and is a veritable source of revenue for the local economy.
